The Tale of Barder - Short Story 15 Minute Prompt

Twists and turns snores and heavy breathing. The kid with the orange turban was deep in slumber. His face gestures seeming that he was in a tough situation in his dream. It was deep in the woods, where not only ogres and gremlins existed but there were air breathing marine animals and marsupials who could speak! Deeper in the jungle lies a treasure chest where it is guarded by an enchanted twenty foot ogre. In the shadows behind a big rock which the ogre was leaning against was a dog named Barder who had been injured by the ferocious beast. He looks left and right, waiting for this one person, a person who holds insignificantly huge amounts of power. He was waiting for the kid in the orange turban named Topher. Then the ogre stands and then looks behind the trees that was in front of him and noticed a small figure with a colorful hat bestowed upon a child’s head. The ogre slashes at the trees and the child comes rolling out and runs under the hulk looking beast and approaches Barder and healed him immediately as Topher chanted the words: “I imagine Barder to be completely healed.”

Barder suddenly started to glow with a white radiance that was so blinding that it made the ogre fall backwards and twisted left and right to get back onto its feet. Then as the light started to dim down, Topher immediately chanted the words again: “I imagine Barder to soar through the air.” Then a swoosh of air clearly communicated to the ogres ears and then a flock of hair fell to the floor. The ogre became bald! Barder and Topher were eye to eye with the twenty foot ogre and then the ogre swung his arm, but Barder was way too fast where the arm that was the ogres plopped off as if it was an action figures arm. The ogre was terrified as if he saw GOD. The ogre ran as fast as he could, vanishing into the woods. Then Barder, slowly put Topher down onto the ground and they both started to do a dance which was their VICTORY DANCE, as they both twirled and shuffled their feet, with their hands waving in the air they both turned their attention to the treasure chest. Topher opened the treasure chest and found gold, a type of gold that has a greater value than any diamond or gold brick. CHOCOLATE! As both Barder and Topher ate the scrumptious gold, they hid the rest into their fort and Topher bid Barder good bye and Topher awoke the next day to go to school. Topher fidgeting in class, excited to hurry and get home so he can have another adventurous dream with his favorite partner and friend Barder.

U.S. Foreign Policy - Personal Opinions

Venezuela becoming an arm raced region by receiving help from Russia and is now having the preparation set to fight against a neighboring country Columbia to a fight to the death.

Click To read article

Countries from the east to west, north to south have always tried to reassure themselves that having a strong military or effective arms force would amplify the strength of the country and or show the defensive capabilities of the country. In this article, it states that Venezuela in the Southern Americas has been utilizing other countries to upgrade the weaponry system to build defensive capabilities. Though it sounds like that Venezuela is trying to build its solid wall against other countries who are threatening it, Hilary Clinton stated:

"We have expressed concerned about the number of Venezuelan arms purchases. They outpace all other countries in South America and certainly raise questions as to whether there is going to be an arms race in the region"

You ask, "Why is Hilary Clinton stating that they are trying to create an arms race?" The article clearly states that Venezuela have been receiving loans from Russia of the amount of 2.2 billon dollars to purchase anti-aircraft missiles and at least a maxed amount of 92 tanks. Though this sounds bad enough that a country is trying to strengthen their military strength, Venezuela is also setting energy sector cooperation with Iran. Now listing a country that the U.S. is clearly an enemy of, currently Venezuela and Columbia are head to head trying to engulf one another to be the dominant country. Though Clinton states that regulating the weapons to have them not fall into the wrong hands in Columbia and Venezuela, Chavez in the end explains that Columbia could be planning to attack Venezuela and increase the constant wars in Southern America.

My Perspective/Opinion

Through my eyes, seeing Venezuela collecting so much armory/weaponry makes it seem very sketchy that the only reason that the country is collecting weapons is that they can face off Columbia which is clearly stated by Chavez. But also, though I have not scrutinized every detail of who, what, where, when, and why about the arms race that is soon to begin with Venezuela I know that even back in the civil wars to the war in Iraq today is that its fought towards who is to achieve "POWER".
To me personally, I believe that since the United States of America is clearly a Super Power state meaning that we strike fear into people’s hearts we clearly make other countries enhance their weaponry to emulate the U.S. itself. Though every country states that "this is just a precautionary thing" it really isn't. The reason why is that to me, for example the Asian country North Korea see us (the U.S.) a threat because we are a huge nation and that we have more fire power than North Korea and we clearly have the label of being extremely "POWERFUL." This also applies towards Iran and Russia as well and so they too take precautionary actions.

Sometimes I really think that having the right to "bear arms" is pretty ridiculous because though it is called a sport in some states/countries, having that right could be abused any time and anywhere by any one man/women. I wished that weapons could be vanquished and that everyone in the world, the 6.6 billion people who live on the planet earth could live in utopian world, but again it would end up into a miserable failure because of our human nature instincts. But then I see it at a different angle, that having the right to "bear arms" helps we regulate "order" and "structure" in our governments and lives. Without any guide lines we as in the people who live on the earth would become to ruins. So in the end, there are always pros and cons to having weaponry and not having weaponry.

Just to notify everyone who has read this, this is clearly not 100% correct information so I would like to apologize. But anyways, I believe that having to be in a dog eat dog world and to become a middle man in that situation is not fun because of threats and fear struck into people’s hearts is just ridiculous. But I would like to just get rid of weapons themselves to see what kind of outcome the people would turn out to be.

Writing in Reverse: Un-Lucky Bob Delaney

After viewing and looking at the New York Turnstile photography that was taken from Bill Sullivan, we were to then choose out of the photos taken of the people to create a creative/fictional writing piece. This consisted on what the person is wearing, facial expressions, and the atmosphere around them. Knowing nothing about the person, we were to create our own version of their life's story or even that was happening at the moment.

Walking through the uncompressed doors of the subway and following the click clatter of the crowds feet walks Bob Delaney. He walks out and about with his favorite FM tunes on with his over sized behemoth looking headphones. He walks through the cold silver turnstile exits of the subway and suddenly over heard a talk radio show explaining that the next caller in a half an hour would win tickets to the Taylor Swift concert. Bob's face became flushed, the corners of his mouth started to rise. Bob then starts to suddenly sprint, weaving through the crowds in and out, side to side to get to a payphone. He runs through hallways and up and down the complicated designed stairways to get towards a similar goal that everyone has, which was to get out of the subway terminals. But suddenly the crowd stopped moving as Delaney kept running. Then a sudden crash that sounded like fire works in Delaney's head went off when he ran into the crowd and collapsed to dusted cold tiled floor. No one but one person turned around in the crowd to make sure the 34 year old Bob Delaney was alright. Bob then opens his eyes and his eyes blurred by the head on collision he had with the crowd created a imperfect picture through his peripherals. He rubs his eyes and when opened, his eyes auto focused as a camera would and laid eyes upon a beautiful brown eyed brunette girl that was similar to his age. But before the woman could speak, Delaney rushes off to the nearest pay phone which was 5 minutes away. Though Delaney did not notice that he has left his business card on the floor when he left the brunenette hair colored woman. Delaney finally gets to the pay phone and shuffles through his pockets to find $1.25 cents to hurry and call the radio show. The phone rang once, then twice, then a third, then a voice came up and said that "sorry but you were the second caller". Delaney drops to his knees and goes toward his apartment complex and off he stomps up the stairs into the old wooden door with a number 3 on it and as he enters he then plops down on his bed and sleeps. As days go bye, he still gets the though of how great the Taylor Swift concert would have been great if he was able to go. He knew that today, September 8, 2009 is the Taylor Swift concert at precisely 5:30 pm. The clock turned to 5:00 pm and Bob Delaney cleans up his desk and starts to walk home, but when approaching his door he gets a phone call. He answers and hears a woman talking, she asks if his name was Bob Delaney. Bob nodding his head saying yes at the same time was having a heart racing moment thinking that he was being watched, then he hears chuckling on the other end of the phone and the woman explains that she has Taylor Swift tickets and wanted to know if he would go with her. He explained where to meet and so he rushed to his apartment to change and left in a cab as soon as possible. Delaney then gets to the middle of town square where the concert was being uphold and then feels a slight tap on the shoulder. Bob turns around and notices that it was the woman who he ran into at the subway and hurriedly sprinted away. The brunette haired lady smiled and said hello, while Bob Delaney's grin that faltered when hearing that he was the second caller arose into a grin, then into a huge smile as he walked with the brunette hair colored woman into the concert.
